Sports Therapy

The goal with Sports Therapy when dealing with an injury is very straight-forward:

Return to full, functional fitness in the safest, shortest possible time.

The key elements involved in this are:

  * Examination and Assessment (including referral if appropriate)

  * Damage limitation (e.g. RICE)

  * Sub-acute injury management

  * Regain ROM (range of movement); maintain strength

  * Mobilisation; build strength

  * Late-stage rehabilitation

  * Regain full function

  * Address the causes to prevent re-injury

  * Psychological factors may need attention

  * Discharge to full training

  * Return to competition
